The 1hr session that proved my point

After that hotly contested Australia tour, I was almost up till my neck with the Indian cricket team and their jingoistic approach to the game. Then the IPL auctions happened - reducing the players to meat that can swing a bat.

It was a matter of time before something interesting happened, and South Africa arrived. In the first test (Chennai), Sehwag scored over 300 runs for the second time in his career - ensuring the match was well and truly headed for a draw. The country went potty about Sehwag being the greatest batsman of his times and he spoke at length about how hurt he was when dropped from the team last year.

2nd Test - Day 1, Hour 1, India all out for 76. By close of Day 3 - India lost the match by an innings and 90 (odd) runs (and 2 days!!).

More importantly, after Day 1, South Africa's pace ace Steyn had this to say... But no one really got upset in India. Imagine if Ricky Ponting or any other Australian said the same... and yes, everything he said was true.

Thank God for soccer every weekend. It just washes away the garbage cricket leaves behind.
