Forrest Gump
Almost Famous
Saturday Night Fever
A Hard Day's Night
Saving Private Ryan (D-Day 60th Anniversary Commemorative Edition)
The Shawshank Redemption (Two-Disc Special Edition)
Zoo TV: Live From Sydney (2pc) (Ltd Ac3 Dol Dts)
The Producer: John Hammond and the Soul of American Music

Forrest Gump is by far one of the best films I have ever watched - and it has a soundtrack that does enough t0 educate any novice about American Music. I have watched this many times, and its only fair that I have one copy for myself.

Almost Famous: another of my favourites. I'll call this a classic. The reasons why I like this movie:
a) Autobiographical
b) Peek into the lives of a rock band - said to be inspired by Led Zeppelin and The Eagles
c) Tiny Dancer on the Tour Bus
d) Polaroids
e) PS Hoffman as Lester Bangs
f) Kate Hudson as Penny Lane
g) 'I am a Golden God!!' Billy Crudup

Saturday Night Fever: We had this VHS at home when I was growing up. I have played this movie more than a thousand times - and I have imitated every move of Tony Manero for years. Thankfully, I left it at the mirror in my bedroom 15 years ago!! Night Fever...

A Hard Day's Night: I laugh, I sing and I cry when I watch this movie - everytime. Ringo and Harrison are simply lovable.

Saving Private Ryan: See, no body tells stories better in modern times than the Americans do. And their War movies are by far the best. This Speilberg classic is truly the best.

The Shawshank Redemption: I watched this movie once... a few years ago. I have forgotten most about it. Yet, I remember that with every passing minute during the experience, I knew this would be a perennial all time top 5!!

Zoo TV: Some say that this was the greatest Live Show ever by a Rock Band. U2 did the unthinkable at a time they were invincible - they went techno, but the soul was always around.

The Producer: John Hammond and the Soul of American Music - To me, John Hammond's contribution to American music (and my life) will be the greatest of all the Producers. Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Ray Vaughan... they were given the opportunity to touch our lives thanks to this one man. I wanna know more about this white guy who was born into privilege, and found salvation in the music emanating from the basement of his father's mansion - where his black servants lived.

Crikey Steve - RIP

A freak accident and we lost an entertaining naturalist...
Watching nature documentaries won't be the same again.
