Continuum...

This is the new album from John Mayer.

The best album of new material that I have heard this year.
The reasons why I like it so much:
a) Huge departure from his earlier albums (Room for Squares & Heavier Things). I liked his first album, but did not think much of album #2.. it felt more like a B Side of Album 1. In Continuum, the sound is smoother, warmer and fuller. His guitaring is superb, nearly every note is a tribute to The great Slowhand himself.
b) Steve Jordan (best sessions percussionist today?)
c) Mature themes.
d) The CD inlay book - very well done.
Amazon : Continuum may be the third in a series, but a creative cop-out this is not; Mayer is his generation's musical superman--powerful, unassailable, and magnetic. Hand that man a cape.
This has been on repeat mode all weekend at home. Its the perfect weekend album. There was a missing ingredient though...

A new beginning...

Today is the beginning of the rest of my life...

I quit my job. Did a little 'integrity-mission statement- Jerry maguire' thingy along the way...

Basically, men are not plants - cannot be moved from one place to another.... like click (hope you heard that!!)

Plus, I never considered myself a media agency guy anyway...

If only you knew what I referred to them agency guys back in Bombay...

Will update as and when another job comes my way...

This indeed is the beginning of the rest of my life...

A new track/ video from Strings. Great lyrics - Faisal's voice is brilliant and Bilal's guitaring is very umm....

The message is clear - war is NOT the answer. Am proud to know these guys... its great to have stand on issues like war, poverty, AIDS...

my weekend choice from the new arrivals...

Watched two from the top row. will watch 'that' Morgan Freeman movie on Sunday afternoon atfer the Japanese F1.

Perks of the business...

Thats my friend Bowen Arrow with John Legend. All of you wondering who John Legend is - surely you must have been living under a rock - and deserve to be there, with the moss and fungus.

By definition...

Shridhar is one of my Top 5 people I can listen to forever - even when he is making negligible sense. He is King of Cool - and THE Man with THE plan. He has seen Grateful Dead perform with Bob Dylan, U2 during the pre Joshua Tree days, Bruce during the early part of the Born in the USA tour (or is it the River?) ... and many more.
You want to be like him, but you cannot.
His comment when I sms'd him that I was gonna watch U2 and Pearl Jam in Sydney...
'Hello my man. That sounds like fun! A couple of iconic aging rock bands with shallow but intense social and environmental messages... The music should be good though...'

He is the MD of Sony BMG Music (India) - and a guy you most definitely want to know.

A month to go...

This is a post to let the world know that I am well. I could have done better if I had a lesser load of work, but hey - there is light at the end of the tunnel. And it looks red and black - very VERTIGOish...

I haven't done much with my life over the past 8 weeks - just classes, work, cook and sleep. Really fed up with the entire MBA thingy.

A development in life has been that I am now a Singaporean PR. Now, I have the right to a few things like ... like... God knows what.

I will be attending another concert while I am in Australia - this time it will be Pearl Jam in Melbourne. Haridini has been kind enough to threaten me with dire consequences if I do not stay with her and her new husband.

I mastered the art of making a concoction that includes mushroom, cauliflower, tomato and capsicum... now the tough part: Need to give it a name.

Chang Beer ain't that bad guys - try it.

I watched Saving Private Ryan on my 5.1. Bloody hell. I never enjoyed a movie at home this much. For movies - get a 5.1. Especially if its a war movie, or action oriented... porn also can lah. To all the modern guys - the pirates who prefer to watch stuff through shared networks on their fucked up laptops - L O S E R S!! Just because its free - you compromise on quality. Anyway, thats my point of view - and if your anonymous ass wants to comment with some 'shite'- please do me a favour. Do Not.

And the opening sequence of ZOO TV is awesome. The barrage of nonsense, followed by Bono's entry to The Edge's licks - man - does it get any better. Ready for the laughing gas, ready for the push... ready for Vertigo 06.

Thats about it...

See you soon - hopefully in a better mood - and some good news.
